Balsa USA Force One
|
This is my Balsa USA Force One delta wing aircraft. It made its maiden flight on January 1, 1991 after spending quite a long time in construction. There is not a lot of history behind this plane, but it has flown over a dozen flights and has accumulated maybe two hours of flight time and three dead-stick landings. It was not a fun plane for me to build, and it is a handful to fly (as far as maintaining perspective). It flys like it is on rails, but it lacks sufficient elevator control (even though I put on a larger elevator than the plans called for).
A friend of mine built two of these kits. In fact, the original intent was for each of us to have one. But his first delta crashed nose-first at full speed, which prompted him to build the second one, which was destroyed in an unfortunate "hangar rash" incident. Mine now just hangs on my wall as it has since about March of 1994. I don't know if I will ever fly it again. It has become more of a decoration these days.
